ColorSense ("we", "our", "the extension") is a color picker and eyedropper tool for Google Chrome. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data Collection

We believe in complete transparency. Here's exactly what ColorSense does and does not do:

No personal data collected — we don't know who you are
No browsing history tracked — we don't monitor what sites you visit
No analytics or telemetry — we don't measure your usage
No cookies — we don't track sessions
No external network requests — nothing leaves your browser

Local Data Storage

ColorSense stores a small amount of data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API:

Color history — your recently picked colors for quick access
User preferences — sampling size settings

This data never leaves your device. It is not sent to any server, cloud service, or third party. You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension.

Permissions Explained

ColorSense requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function. Here's exactly what each permission does:

activeTab Accesses only the current tab — and only when you click "Pick Color" or use the keyboard shortcut. No background access.

storage Saves your color history and preferences locally on your device. No data is sent externally.

clipboardWrite Copies color codes (HEX, RGB, HSL) to your clipboard when you click a value. That's it.

scripting Injects the eyedropper overlay and magnifier onto the webpage when you initiate color picking.

sidePanel Displays the extension's interface in Chrome's built-in side panel alongside your current page.

host_permissions Captures a screenshot of the visible tab for pixel-level color sampling. No page content or data is stored or transmitted.

Third-Party Services

ColorSense does not integrate with, send data to, or receive data from any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or data brokers.

The only external resource loaded is Google Fonts (Inter and JetBrains Mono) for UI typography when the side panel is open.

Children's Privacy

ColorSense does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since we collect no data from any user, this naturally extends to all age groups.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever update this privacy policy, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Major changes will also be communicated through extension update notes.

We will never change our core principle: ColorSense will never collect your personal data.
